Strand Beach (Ploverville) - Waterford, CT
This year (2009) the Piping Plovers have had many successful nests on the Strand Beach at Harkness. Several use the Land Trust properties. So far it looks like the final fledged chick count is nine (9) as of 7/26/2009.

The Piping Plovers started nesting near our Trust properties along the shore in late April 2009.
Update 7/26/2009: This looked like a banner year, but we actually lost quite a few. Possibly predators or dogs. Still a great site for the birds.
