Strand Beach (Ploverville) - Waterford, CT
In 2009 the Piping Plovers had many successful nests on the Strand Beach at Harkness. Several use the Land Trust properties. It looks like the final fledged chick count was nine (9) as of 7/26/2009.

The Piping Plovers started their nests near our Trust properties in late April 2009.
Update 7/26/2009: It looked like a banner year, but we actually lost quite a few. Possibly predators or dogs. Still a great site for the birds.
