A pair of Piping Plovers took residence on the Trusts Power's Beach tract, a narrow 25 foot right-of-way along the shore. The Plover is a Federally listed species. It's at risk because the nesting habitat, undisturbed beach front, is very rare.

This nest had four large eggs. They hatched Sunday June 10th at about 2:00pm. It's possible at least three of the chicks survived the season. Two nearby nest were also successful.

Final tally at the end of the season was 11 fledged chicks for the Strand beach.
